MAZI Foundation Press Conference Announcing their Cooperation with Ms Anna Vissi

On Monday, September 26, 2011, the press conference of MAZI foundation for eating disorders and obesity was held at Famagusta Gate in Nicosia at 18:30 pm. The cooperation between the foundation and Ms Anna Vissi was announced. The artist will resume the identity of the foundation’s Ambassador communicating the messages and goals of MAZI.

As the first activity, showing her support to the foundation, Ms Vissi granted MAZI 200 invitations for her concert on September 27, 2011 which took place at the School of the Blind in Nicosia. The invitations were offered in the value of 100€ each, as a form of donation to the foundation. The holders of the special invitations had the opportunity to attend both the Press Conference - Reception and Ms Vissi concert.

Ms Georgia Della, Secretary of the Board of Directors of MAZI presented the conference.

On the behalf of MAZI Foundation spoke the Chairman of the Boards of Directors, Mr Michalis Papadopoulos who thanked Ms Vissi for undertaking the particular task of the Ambassador and stressed the importance of such an initiative. Afterwards he thanked the holders of the special invitations for their generous contribution to the foundation. The donations of active members of our society enhance the foundation’s efforts and guarantee its sustainability. The Chairman also informed that via MAZI’s website, www.mazi.org.cy, the visitors can donate the amount of their choice through an electronic donations platform.

The Chairman’s speech stressed the importance of the work that is implemented by MAZI in the area of eating disorders. According to the Chairman “With Ms Vissi we share the same passion and the same values!”. He elaborated on the activities of informing and educating the society on the matters of eating disorders and obesity, as well as the undertaking of scientific and research projects regarding the public health. The effort of creating the first completed centre of rehabilitation of patients with eating disorders and obesity, is included in the framework for the prevention of eating disorders and obesity.

In her speech Ms Anna Vissi expressed her joy and passion for becoming a member of MAZI’s family. She thanked Mr Papadopoulos for his splendid speech and stressed the importance and the power of being united. She added that the decision to become an ambassador was a responsible and well – thought action. She shared her own long struggle with bad eating habits. Finally she added that she will support the actions of MAZI with all of her heart.

The Executive Chairman of A. Zorbas and Sons Public LTD, Mr Costas Zorbas, concluded the speeches section of the evening, by expressing his gratitude to both Ms Vissi for the new collaboration, and the holders of invitations for their contribution. He reported on the framework of mutualism and humanity that characterizes the “family” of Zorbas Bakeries in their 36 years history. According to Mr Zorbas: “The foundation is the epicenter of the company’s efforts to offer back to the society.”

The press conference followed a reception in the honour of the new collaboration, where the holders of special invitations had the opportunity to meet Ms Vissi, as well as taste wonderful cocktail delicacies, a sponsorship by Zorbas Catering.
